This guide provides a general background to these spectacular ruins, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site that lies on the western boundary of the City of Bulawayo. Following several identified routes, it explains the main features of the site, discussing who was where and why. The evolution and final destruction of Khami as the capital of the Butua State is considered, something that relatively few books have hitherto covered. It is a vital companion to any visit to this site which is, unfortunately, inadequately signposted.
